Reproduction for books, reports, dissertation and theses, the standard to use 10 % of the text or one chapter. Though the law does not define the qualitative/ quantitative extraction, it is recommended to use reasonable or part of the content for reproduction.  A print book’s format cannot be changed to a digitized version. Permissions are granted, for one course cannot be used for next academic year. Chapters from textbooks or taking a portion which is the heart of the book may constitute copyright infringement.  Once the content is upload for a term, it is your responsibility to remove it from the Moodle.

Additional guidelines.

  1. Copying an item for more than one course in an academic year
  2. Copying more than one work from the same authors
  3. Making more than three copies from a collected work or periodical volume during one class term
  4. Reusing the last year’s material without permission for the current year is not considered fair use.
