Background

Never in the history of librarianship, is the future of libraries discussed as it is in the current era. Premature obituaries were nothing new in every period about the demise of libraries ever since technology permeated into our lives. Adding to this narrative, the literature and discourses replete with ideas and frameworks on how libraries are repositioning or negotiating their space within institutions to reclaim the central position to attract funds to strengthen their infrastructure and resources. We are also battling a perception that when you get everything in the web and resources available online, who needs the libraries?

The second edition of this conference will address some of the fundamental issues pertaining to the redefinition of the role of libraries in the digital domain and will attempt to narrow down the narratives on how libraries are transforming themselves to be relevant to the journey of leaning, evolving cultures and improving human lives. As libraries are representatives of culture and advancement of society, this conference to expand to include all libraries including public library systems.

Future of Libraries

We invite original contributions involving research, models, practices or strategies envisioning the future of your library. Papers should discuss on how libraries strategize by refocusing their collection, demonstrating the value by learning commons, services models, research and data management services, digital scholarship and other multiple drivers to communicate its value for the institute's success.

Contributions will address the overall conference theme and cover exploration and activities related to but not limited to the following topics:

Future Role of Libraries:

Role of Libraries in various domains such as:
  • Research impact, ranking of Institutions and role of Libraries

  • Shift to diverse delivery modes, including virtual tours and interactive exhibits, etc

Important Dates:

  • 20th October 2023 – Last date for submission of abstracts
  • 25th October 2023 – Notification on acceptance of abstracts
  • 10th November 2023 – Last date for submission of full-text articles
  • 20th November 2023 – Notification on acceptance of full-text articles

Abstracts will be peer-reviewed and notification of acceptance will be sent to authors. Final copies of the accepted abstracts should be sent in by 30th October 2023, in order for them to be included in the Abstract Book.

Submission of full papers (not more than 8 pages) with an abstract in approximately 250 words, keywords and references on A4 size paper with margin 1.5 cm on all sides in MS Word format in 12 points New Times Roman type single line spacing. The length of the paper should not exceed 6000 words. Details such as the name of the author, designation, title of the article, abstract, name of the affiliating institution, mailing address, telephone number, fax number and E-mail address are to be included. The paper should be plagiarism-free. Before publication paper submitted would be checked through iThenticate Similarity Check Software. The paper submitted must not have been previously published or presented elsewhere.

Please submit a structured abstract in the following format as outlined below. The abstract should have the sub-headings and their accompanying explanations must always be included.
